Standards compliance
Diveristy@work's website adheres to strict website accessibility guidelines. Our aims in ensuring accessibility are:
- To raise awareness of accessibility issues.
- To encourage compliance with existing accessibility guidelines, such as the W3C's WCAG.
- In conforming with accessibility standards, we hope to be a user-friendly resource, especially for people with a disability.
- In the near future, Diversity@work plans to provide consultancy services on website accessibility. For more information, please contact us.
Features
- Alternative text has been used for all important images. This feature is used for text-to-speech browsers and all-text browsers.
- Consistent style of presentation between pages, and navigation bars for easy access to the navigation structure, have been used throughout the website. The search feature is powered by Google and different types of searches can be performed.
- All download documents (such as PDF and Word document types) and links leading outside of this website will open in a new browser window. The attributes of these windows can be controlled by the user.
- Descriptive hyperlinks have been used along with titles attached to each link.
- Relative size values have been used in most instances to allow re-sizing by the user.
- This site has been created using XML, XHTML and CSS.
