Just The Facts
Facts & Figures #106
What’s Age Got To Do With It?
The results of a recent survey of HR practicians suggest there is a gap between the need and actual strategy to navigate through the diversity of an intergenerational workforce.
- Almost half (49%) of respondents believed there is intergenerational conflict in the workplace which impacts on their performance;
- Approximately 70% of respondents believed their organisations should have a strategy to address the conflict;
- Yet 70% of organisations reported that they did not have a strategy in response to managing these intergenerational differences.
The question must be asked then, what prevents such strategies from being introduced? Perhaps it is a lack of awareness by leadership that is a factor, as nearly half of respondents did not believe that generational differences are discussed at a management level.
